Jessore district, one of the most significant in the southern part of the country, was created about 200 years ago, in 18 AD. It is the oldest district of Bangladesh in terms of the establishment. In the war of liberation, Jessore was first liberated on 7 December 1971.
There are different opinions about the origin of the name Jessore. There are totally different opinions concerning the origin of the name Jessore. there's disagreement among historians concerning the naming of this district. many of us assume that the word Jessore originates from the Arabic 'Jasar'. It means bridge. At one time Jessore was full of rivers. Bridges were built over rivers or canals. It is known that Pir Khanjahan Ali came to Murli after crossing the river Bhairab by making bamboo Saco.
The name Jessore originates from a bamboo bridge. However, in line with several, the name 'Jessore' was there even before the arrival of Khan Jahan Ali. Among the traditions of the district are Deputy Commissioner's Bungalow, Collectorate Building, Daratana, Markaz Mosque, Century-Old Jessore Municipality, Laldighi Pukurpar, Ramnarayan Public Library, Nakshikantha and Jessore Stitch, Jessore Polytechnic Institute, Public Library, Public Library. The Benapole land port has a 'Retreat Ceremony' every afternoon. At sunset, the border guards of the two countries performed a military parade at the zero lines of the Benapole border, playing the national anthems of the two countries and hoisting flags.
Jessore district has a total of 8 Upazilas under the Khulna division of Bangladesh. The list of names of all the Upazilas is given below.

The Binadia Family Park has been set up at Shantala in Yasha Cantonment, just five kilometers from the district town of Yasha. Lieutenant Colonel Fayez Ahmed built the Binadia Family Park in 1997. For recreation, the Binadia Family Park has a variety of interesting rides, mini zoos, children's parks, rivers, Robinhood houses, artificial fountains, conference rooms, and dining facilities. The park has facilities for organizing any kind of cultural events including picnics and reunions. Initially, the park was open to the public, but later tickets were provided for entry. The Badia Family Park is open to visitors seven days a week from 8am to 6pm.
