How the named:
Sylhet is one of the busiest cities in Bangladesh. Its area is 41.75 square kilometers which means 0.17 square miles. According to the 2011 census, its population is 5 lakh 31 thousand 663. Like various regional languages of Bangladesh, Sylhet also has its own regional language. Whose name is Sylheti language. And it has its own citizen alphabet that no one else has. However, there are various opinions about the naming of Sylhet, some people think that it has been named according to Hindu mythology.
Note that in the past Sylhet was called Shrihatta, and according to them they are like this. Many also think that Sylhet was named after Atkishori given by the then Gaur Raja. According to many, on hearing the news of the arrival of Harjat Shahjalal Rahmatullahi in Sylhet, the then King Gaur Govinda obstructed the border of Sylhet with stones by his miraculous power.
Harjat Shahjalal Rahmatullahi and his miraculous power removed the obstacle by saying Sylhet. Sylhet is named after that Sylhet. Although its name is Sylhet in the past history, the name Sylhet is also found in Indian documents. Sylhet is formed through the evolution of Sylhet from many Bengali words and the present Sylhet from Sylhet. Many people think that this is reasonable.
